New 92 MW Solar Thermal Plant for California

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and Alpine SunTower LLC have agreed to build a 92 megawatts (MW) solar thermal power plant. eSolar's solar thermal technology will be utilized in this project which is scheduled for completion in 2012.

The plant will be built near Lancaster, California. It is estimated to produce 192 gigawatt-hours of electric energy annually. This plant concentrates the sun's light to boil water. The steam created will be used to turn a stem turbine which will generate electricity.
